5 Biggest Changes In Mortal Kombat 1’s Comic-Con Trailer
The video for Mortal Kombat 1 at Comic-Con revealed some interesting facts about the game.
Mortal Kombat 1 did a great job of slowly building up hopes and excitement for the next game. Fans waited for news for what seemed like years, and now there is a careful buildup of pre-release information and content with every trailer, sneak peek, and beta or play-testing chance. Players were excited by the first shows, which showed both the new game-changing Kameo system and a new timeline that Fire-God Liu Kang had carefully put together. Now, there are a lot of things that fans can be happy about.
The new lineup looks great. It includes series mainstays like Sub-Zero and Raiden as well as Kombatants who haven’t been in a game in a while, like Smoke. With the timeline reset, Mortal Kombat 1 has a unique chance to make a better story for the Mortal Kombat world that doesn’t get confusing or contradict itself. At the recent San Diego Comic-Con, players were treated to not only the reveal of the Kombat Pack, but also lengthy story trailers that showed some important new changes.
Outworld Power Struggle

General Shao is Shao Kahn. He is a trusted friend of the royal family of Edenia. And so he is also a trusted ally of Mileena and Kitana.
Recent shows at Comic-Con, on the other hand, have shown that problems are starting to happen. In a clip, Liu Kang and Li Mei look into something. They find out that Reiko and General Shao are planning to take over Edenia again. MK1 seems likely to show a power struggle between Mileena and Kitana with General Shao. And Liu Kang’s perfect world falling apart could also be interesting. Even though he changed everything, some parts of history seem destined to happen again.
The New Umgadi
Umgadi are priestesses who are warriors. The first-born daughters of Outworld are picked to be the guardians of the royal family. Li Mei was the first leader of the Umgadi. But she was replaced when Kitana and Mileena’s father, probably King Jerrod, died, as always. The Umgadi seems to be a new and interesting idea for the show. Li Mei’s friends have turned away from her because of her mistakes. And the new order led by Tanya is shown to be rash and not care about safety.
During the fight for power, it will be interesting to see if the Umgadi continue to protect the royal family or if they decide to side with General Shao and Reiko. The bond between Queen Sindel and the Umgadi could also be interesting.
The Identity of Scorpion
It has been confirmed that the Scorpion we see in all the trailers is Kuai Liang. This wasn’t directly shown in the trailers, but it was proven at a fan panel. This explains why he joined the Lin Kuei, but it also raises the question: what happened to Hanzo Hasashi?
It will be interesting to see how Bi-Han, who is rash and eager, and Kuai Liang, who is calm and moral, fight with each other. Also, it gives us a chance to see how Hanzo’s character changes without him wearing the Scorpion title. Hanzo might be leading the Shirai Ryu now as a fighter instead of a revenant. Takeda being in the Kombat Pack is also strange. Since in the MKX comics he was part of the new Shirai Ryu.
Baraka and The Takartans
The new clip shows that Baraka and the other Takartans have changed. This may be the most important change. Baraka says that Tarkat is a disease that “disfigures and then makes weak.” People who are hurt by Tarkat are shown to be hurt by violence and abuse and to be shunned by society as a whole. Baraka also makes it clear that he doesn’t like Liu Kang for not helping people with this sickness.
Mileena is also going through the early stages of Tarkat, which makes things even more interesting. It’s likely that this disease will slowly make her look more like how she used to. There seems to be a subplot about how people with Tarkat are treated. And it’s clear that Mileena and Tanya are keeping her hidden.
Tanya
Tanya’s part in the story seems to be the biggest it’s ever been in a Mortal Kombat game. She is shown to be the new boss of the Umgadi. And she and Li Mei are at odds because she doesn’t trust him. She also doesn’t seem to care about the dangers Li Mei and Liu Knag tell her about for the royal family. Some people think she had something to do with King Jerrod’s death, or at least with putting the blame on Li Mei. But it’s too early to say for sure.
Tanya’s friendship with Mileena seems to be a big part of the Outworld arc of Snake Game, and it will be interesting to see how it develops in light of Mileena’s illness and General Shao’s impending invasion.
